Computer Science at Wren Academy Enfield provides an exciting journey into the realm of technology and problem-solving. Our curriculum is more than just coding; it is about understanding the inner workings of computers, exploring the rich history of computing and honing problem-solving skills alongside building essential IT expertise.

Key Stage 3

As we delve into Key Stage 3, our adventure kicks off with 'Impact of Technology/E- Safety,' diving into network basics, email etiquette, and online safety. The exploration continues into Year 9, with modules like 'Back to the Future,' uncovering past technological influences, and a focus on Computational Thinking, computer systems, data representation, and Python programming.

But the fun does not stop there! Our enrichment activities include engaging gaming skills and coding Lego-robots, ensuring that our students not only acquire practical IT skills but also essential Computer Science knowledge, all while embracing responsible computer use.

Key Stage 4

Moving into the GCSE Computer Science program, we take our skills to the next level. We become experts of Computer Systems, Cybersecurity, and Computational Thinking with Python. Our curriculum does not just cover the technical; it delves into the impact of computers on ethical, legal, cultural and environmental issues. These skills are not just for the classroom; they are our secret weapons for future adventures in Data Analysis, Artificial Intelligence, Software Architecture and beyond. Our students are preparing for a future where we are not just users but creators of technology, shaping the digital landscape with confidence and creativity!

In addition to our academic pursuits, our dedicated Computer Science students, spanning from Year 7 to Year 10, actively participated in the initial round of the esteemed Bebras Challenge. Impressively, a cohort of 49 students successfully progressed to the second round, to compete in the OUCC competition. This accomplishment not only reflects their academic dedication but also showcases their prowess in embracing and excelling within the ever-evolving field of Computer Science.

As we look forward to introducing A Level Computer Science, we are preparing for an exciting academic journey with advanced challenges and a deep exploration of computing intricacies that is designed to enrich learning and further foster intellectual growth within Wren Academy Enfield.
